My wife and I are planning our honeymoon cruise. Which did you like better, the bahamas or caribbean?

Also, which cruiseline is the best for a newlywed couple who wants a little time together?

First off congratulations on getting married! My Fiance and I just recently booked our honeymoon for a cruise to the Caribbean! I have been before and it was absolutely breathtaking. Im sure both are great, but since I have experienced the Caribbean thats where my loyalty is! Ha! As for which cruise line to go with. Everyone who has posted above is right it depends on what you want. Although carnival may not be known for highly romantic cruises, the romance will come no matter where you are its your freaking honeymoon! We chose Caribbean because although it is a romantic week we still want to have a great time! Enjoy your honeymoon!

Personally, I find the Caribbean much more interesting and diverse than the Bahamas.

As to which cruise line, it depends on who you are and what you like. Of the major lines, Royal Caribbean and Carnival cater to a younger crowd; Celebrity and Holland to older folks. Princess seems to fall right in the middle and appeals to lots of different people.

Our Bahamas cruise was more enjoyable, but that’s only because we missed out on the Grand Caymans due to a storm at sea. We had to spend an extra day at sea. Made everyone grumpy, including us. I don’t think you will go wrong either way. And the Cruise Line shouldn’t make any difference to time together. You may want some separate time (we did), but schedule your time together and you’ll have fun. Good luck on your marriage!

I answered some of your question in your other post. If you want a quieter, classier cruise, look into Celebrity, especially the Solstice or Equinox. [Depending on when you're going - Celebrity is in the Caribbean only in late Fall and through the Winter.]

If you don’t know anything about cruising, I suggest you do a bit of research first, as there are many options in choosing a cruise that you will need to decide on before a travel agent can help you book your cruise [time of year, size/age of ship, itinerary, cabin type, etc., etc.]. There are books at your library or bookstore that give a general idea about cruising, as well as books on "Caribbean Ports of Call".

You might want to check out CruiseCritic.com, too. Click on "Cruise Styles" at the top of the page and you’ll find a link to "Romantic" cruises. You can click on "Reviews" and read the "Member Reviews" as well as the pro comments on any ship that’s out there. You could also browse the "Boards" section, although this may be a bit overwhelming if you haven’t a clue – there’s lots of info on every aspect of cruising there, from experienced cruisers.

Good luck finding just the right cruise for you. Cruising is a wonderful way to vacation.

The Caribbean is much better than the Bahamas, I think, especially if you’re going in the winter. The Caribbean is about 10 degrees warmer than the Bahamas in the winter.

Princess is a great choice for honeymooners. Their whole philosophy is providing a romantic, personal feel for newly-weds and couples. This is what they are known for.
