royal caribbean’s cruise lines alcohol policies?
ok so me and a couple of my friends are going on a cruise in a few weeks and my one friend is insisting that he is going to bring bottles of vodka in his luggage. i told hime he shouldnt but he wont listen. will royal caribbean just confiscate it if he claims he didnt read the info package or will not let him board the boat if they find it
You are not permitted to bring alcohol on board although some resourceful cruisers have found many ways to get around this. For one, they do not search every bag looking for booze. They may pass it through x-ray or spot search so you can take your chances.
On the cruisecritic.com message board there are several threads dedicated to this subject. There is also a product specifically dedicated to sneaking alcohol on cruise ships called Rum Runners. They also don’t look twice at soda and water bottles so a quick substitute of liquids may work. I managed to take a pint of Jack Daniels in the original bottle without any problem. I just wrapped it up in a t-shirt in my bag.
If you get caught, they will likely just hold it until the end of the cruise. They will not deny him boarding.

They will confiscate the alcohol. (and keep an eagle eye on your group when you return from port excursions).
You can buy bottles onboard for the room. Cheaper than buying drinks.

If they find the bottles in his luggage they will confiscate the booze. I have never heard of them kicking someone off the boat before. If he leaves the vodka in the original liquor bottles there is an increase chance of getting busted. Have him fill up shampoo bottles, mouth wash bottles, water bottles or anything other than liquor bottles. It increases his chance of not getting busted. Three vodka bottles in the same suitcase are going to jump out on the x-ray machine like neon red flags.

If you are underage, you can definitely be put off the ship for alcohol possession – the entire party, not just the offender. Cruise lines may confiscate any alcohol found in luggage. If you bring alcohol from a port, it will held until the last night of the cruise.
Read the fine print in your cruise contract. The cruise line probably reserves the right to deny boarding to passengers who do not follow the rules. Whether they would actually do that, I don’t know.
You can also be put off the ship in any port at the discretion of the captain for behavioral problems resulting from intoxication – again, the entire party, not just the offender. You would then have to make your own way home at your own expense.
FWIW.
