Do I need a passport to go on a honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean? If so, what details should I be aware of?
In case it matters, I’m 23 years old and my Fiancee is 19.
You got a bunch of WRONG answers. Neither the law or the cruise lines require you to have a passport. SOME cruise lines want all passengers to have a passport, but it is NOT required by law. Starting in June 2009, passports will be required for sea travel with the EXCEPTION of loop cruises to Mexico and the Caribbean that begin and end in the same U.S. port. See 1st 2 sites below. Then see 3rd site for all passport application info…in case you decide to get passports. Cost is $100.00 plus photos and it currently takes 3 weeks ( not months) to get your passport.

I think there was a delay in the need for it on cruises, but I think it has expired by now. Your local post office can help you out.

if your travelling outside of the country you live in then yes you will need a passport, also check to see if you have to have any immunisations to enter, some countries will need parental signatures if your girlfriend is under 21, others under 18.
hope this helps a bit…

Your fiancee is over 18 so that does not matter. All cruise lines do require passports no matter what ports you dock in. That started about 3 years ago. If you do decide to take a cruise for your honeymoon I would suggest Princess. The ships are beautiful for couples and I believe they still limit the amount of children per cruise. That was as of 3 years ago as well.

As of right now, you do not have to have a passpport when leaving a port out of the US. However, if you become ill and need to be flown out of the place you are visiting you will not be able to unless you have a passport.

After you get on the ship you will not need a passport because you will use the ship pass to get on and off the ship as well as entering through customs in the ports of call. Check out the info below.
It seems that from June 1, 2009 you might need one.
